Creatures of habit…

We humans are all creatures, and as such we have needs. We need to eat, so we eat. We like to converse with others, so we do. We like to be entertained, so we watch TV. The list is endless, with some of our activities becoming habitual, making the task easier. For example, making breakfast can be done on autopilot; sometimes if something is on your mind, you may not even realise you are on your second piece of toast until you have almost finished it! You grab the milk from the fridge, kick the door shut with your foot, grab a teaspoon etc, all stereotyped movements. Now imagine having breakfast at someone else’s house; where’s the toaster, where’s the spoons? A simple task suddenly becomes very complicated. Then you decide to watch their TV; which remote do you use, and what button is it? Life is so much simpler when we work on autopilot and allow our brain to concentrate on more important matters…
Now as a true creature of habit I will finish my post with a quote and sign my name with my owl symbol…
“Change is not popular; we are creatures of habit as human beings. ‘I want it to be the way it was.’ But if you continue the way it was there will be no ‘is’. ”
Robin Williams
