I don’t plan on growing old. I intend to live to a ripe old age, but I mean to stay young at heart. I still feel the same as I did 30 years ago and it is only my body betraying me and falling apart and when I see my reflection in a mirror that I realise my age is indeed creeping higher and higher. Some people are old before their time, and others are youthful until the day they die. My Dad turned 94 last week and is a prime example of a young at heart oldie. He laughs and jokes his way through his days, keeping himself occupied with things to do. He loves his garden, still drives and in the last year has acquired himself a girlfriend. Now he is like a lovesick teenager!
Life is meant to be lived and I intend to do just that. Today’s adventure is a visit to a Distillery (a Gin Masterclass at the Bass & Flinders Distillery) where we will learn how to make gin and create our very own recipe using various herbs. I will make the most of it and dance to “Gingle Bells” today because tomorrow sees me back in surgery for a knee realignment. Maybe if I drink enough gin today I can skip the anaesthesia!
