Social media has very much become a part of day to day life, with Facebook being the largest social networking site in the world. It allows me to keep in touch with others in all parts of the globe, sharing things from our personal worlds. It has many pros and cons, one being people portray things to be “picture perfect”, when in fact the reality is very different! It also lets cowards use it for bullying, saying things they never would face to face. However, like everything in life, if used properly, it is a wonderful tool connecting the world and allows people to no longer feel isolated. It’s hard to remember a world without technology, without Google and Facebook, and yet somehow our generation managed to grow up happily without it. I have embraced it and can’t conceive a world without it, yet I can happily abandon it when we go on holiday. No, I lie, I have been known to post holiday snaps!
WhatsApp is another favourite, used for group messages and recently for messaging my son, currently studying in Germany. Messenger too has been fabulous, allowing us to have video calls across the continent for no cost! ( using our wifi) Life and travel was far harder BT ( before technology!)
Twitter on the other hand, I never got my head around. Reading my twitter feed is like listening to snippets of hundreds of conversations; not really comprehending any!
Well, I best finish this, I haven’t checked FB yet and my world farming game awaits…
