We can’t always choose the music life plays for us, but we can choose how we dance to it. Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass; it’s about learning to dance in the rain, and dance as though no one is watching. Life is a dance that you learn as you go. Sometimes you lead, and sometimes you follow. I love to dance; lose myself in the rhythm of the music and let the moves flow. Unfortunately, as I stated in yesterday’s post, the mind is always willing but the body often rebels. In younger years I could dance until the small hours of the morning, suffering no ill effects ( well, perhaps a mild hangover😜) but these days if I have a night of dancing, my feet throb and I hobble through the next day.
There have been many films about dancing; Strictly Ballroom, Flashdance, Footloose, and my all time favourite, Dirty Dancing. My boys laugh at me because I can recite the film word for word! Last year I went and saw it as a stage show and was very disappointed. In a nutshell, “nobody puts baby in the corner” and nobody can replace Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey.
It is a film full of endless quotes, and it is impossible not to smile at the final, euphoric dance number…
“And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music.”
