When we want to reach a destination we walk or stride, when we don’t care where we are going or when we arrive, we amble.
Holidays are ideal for an amble through quaint old villages, exploring at leisure. There is time to dally and see all there is to see. Sometimes we need to slow down, get off the fast wheel of life and stop and smell the roses. When we holidayed in England, we drove through the countryside, often along narrow, hedged lanes where we would encounter a stray cow or sheep out for an amble, exploring castles and staying at wonderful bed and breakfast accommodations. It was a great way to unwind from the pressures of life, relax and breathe in fresh, country air. I thoroughly recommend it if your batteries are in need of a recharge.
There is actually a fishing village in Northumberland, England by the sea called Amble; the perfect place for a daily amble…
“Arise from sleep old cat, and with great yawns and stretching, amble out for love.”
