Being a mum is the most rewarding job you will ever have, but it is also the damn hardest. The hours are long (24/7), the work is often tedious and repetitive and you can never resign. I guarantee you that there will be times when you reach the end of your tether, and the trick is to do what you can as good as you can, and then tie a knot and hang on. There will be times when you doubt yourself and think you are a terrible parent but the reality is you are an exhausted human being who has no time to look after herself. Todays mums have a world of advice at their fingertips, and a network of mums to offer online support. Sometimes all you need is someone who understands, listens and tells you that you are doing great. Being at the end of your parenting rope can happen to the best of us. We’re only human, after all. It’s important to remember that the bonuses will make it all worthwhile; the small hand that curls itself in yours, the cuddles and kisses, and the words “I love you Mummy” that have melted the hearts of mums worldwide.
I am proud of many things that I’ve done in my life, but nothing beats being a mum.
“When you reach the end of your rope, tie a knot in it and hang on.”
