Memory triggers…

Whether we like it or not, sometimes you will pluck distant memories of past events from the deep recesses of your mind. Humans have memory triggers that set of strong recollections of past experiences. The trigger may be a sound, a scent, something you see, or even an expression that you may hear. I know in the 8 days that my family and our German friend were away, we created a myriad of triggers. I know whenever I hear anyone saying “blah, blah, blah, I will instantly think of her. We laughed constantly, sometimes at others, often at each other and sometimes even at ourselves. It wasn’t an exotic holiday but it will always hold a special place in all our memories. I think the biggest trigger I will have will be the song Yellow, by Coldplay. I know that whenever I hear it I will be back on Fraser Island, the 5 of us walking back to our room under a beautiful starlit sky, singing “Look at the stars, look how they shine for you, and everything you do, yeah they were all yellow…. I have always loved this song ,but now, even though it became an earworm, I will sing it with even more feeling and think of my distant friend in faraway Germany…
“When you like a flower you just pluck it. But when you love a flower, you water it daily.”
Gautama Buddha
When you like a song you just sing it. But when you love a song and it has special meaning, you sing it with heart and feeling…
