I have always taught my kids to treat others as they themselves wish to be treated and to always wait before lashing out in anger, rather then later having regret. The world today is quite a hostile place, with people often too afraid to speak to strangers, too self involved and always in a hurry. Buddha says radiate love towards the entire world; if only people would try, our planet would be a better place to live. People today are angry. Years ago when driving, if you made a mistake, (and even the best drivers have lapses in concentration) a smile and wave to say you were sorry sufficed. Today in the same situation, you are likely to be abused, given the finger, blasted by a horn and sometimes even worse! When things go wrong, people look to see who they can sue, instead of accepting accidents sometimes happen. Our kids are learning to be precious instead of becoming resilient. Attitude counts for everything, if you are positive and happy, you will attract positive outcomes and like a magnet, draw happy people to you; happiness is contagious.
Whatever you do, do with kindness. Whatever you say, say with kindness. Wherever you go, radiate kindness. The following proverbs say it all; “laugh and the world laughs with you” and “misery loves company.”
I know which one I’d prefer – Happy people unite!
“If you have good thoughts, they will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely.”
