Late last year my husband and I travelled with close friends to New Zealand, to help celebrate a milestone 50th birthday. We had a glorious week on Waiheke Island, walking, relaxing and visiting many, many wineries. On the special day, we went zip lining and it was a truly amazing experience. There were three dual flying fox lines, each 200 metres long and side by side we raced to the end, reaching speeds of up to 60kmph.
The views over the forest, beaches and distant Auckland were simply breathtaking. I was a bit apprehensive before going, as after having kids I developed a fear of heights, and chairlifts, which I once loved, now leave me terrified. Amazingly though, once strapped in my harness, I felt no fear and had no hesitation jumping from the take off tower. I highly recommend if anyone has the chance to experience this, grab it with both hands and fly! The wine tour (and many wines we tasted) wasn’t bad either -I’m just glad it came after the zip lining!
Happy 50th Kez!
