Art Therapy… a very interesting interview with Karen Pence

Karen Pence is married to the United States Vice-President, Mike Pence. She is currently in Australia & was interviewed on ABC TV.  She is an art teacher, an artist, a pilot, and most recently is passionate about getting the word out about Art Therapy.

Art Therapy is a form of expressive therapy that uses the creative process of making art to improve a person’s physical, mental, and emotional well-being.

The creative process involved in expressing one’s self artistically can help people to resolve issues as well as develop and manage their behaviors and feelings, reduce stress, and improve self-esteem and awareness.

I had never heard of Art Therapy before & found this interview very interesting, I hope you do & I would love to hear what you thought of it too.

I would also like to add that there are no “political” views or support being made in this post whatsoever, the story is only being referenced in relation to the subject of Art Therapy.

  1. I’d like to share a few resources. I do not have a psychology/therapy degree, but I highly recommend this course I took called Eco-Art Therapy. Anyone can purchase the book and work through the chapter practices on their own or take the full course. Sadly, the author of this work died during the time I took the course a few years ago, but others are carrying on her great work.

Here is a beautiful article about one Eco-Art Therapist:
