I hate not finishing things. I’m just not so good at starting them; in fact, my basket of things I must get around to is overflowing! However, once I’ve begun something I will not rest until the project is complete. I refuse to leave a crossword puzzle unfinished and will ponder a cryptic clue for hours until the answer finally dawns on me. Likewise with jigsaws; I will be the sole person left at the table working away, long after my fellow puzzlers have walked away! I’m tenacious. Like a dog with a bone. Likewise my iPad addictive games, like Candy Crush and Words with Friends. I will not let a “CC” level defeat me (but boy I’ve come close!) and I will play with different word combinations on Words until I have the best possible score! It’s a word thing. I love anything that involves words, unless it’s a maths problem, in which case my mind instantly shuts off. For example, if a question poses if a train was travelling a certain speed and asks how many miles it covered, my mind simply asks: why catch a train? It’s better to drive! I guess everyone has their own strengths and weaknesses; the trick is to partner with someone who has different strengths so you have it all covered!
Tracey (my co-author of Mums The Word) and I make a brilliant team because we both excel in different areas. (At least that’s what I tell her – really I’m great at everything!😝) I’m just joking, but my Dad ( 93) always introduces me with “This is my daughter, and she knows everything.” Where can I possibly go from there?!
