Fortune “favours the bold” is a common translation of a Latin proverb which refers to Fortuna the Goddess of luck and totally I agree with its sentiment. Likewise nothing ventured, nothing gained, and he who dares, wins; all telling you that if you never attempt anything out of your comfort zone, you will never know just what you can accomplish.
If Tracey and I had not decided to undertake the mammoth challenge of writing our book, “Mum’s the Word”, we would not in fact have this blog and be connecting with the wonderful people such as yourself who are reading this post!
We have both learned ( and continue to learn), so much on our journey as authors and are both extremely proud of our efforts. Our book was never intended to make our fortune, but rather to celebrate our fortune ( our kids!) It was written to preserve precious family memories for our children, before our brains turn to dust! ( judging by reactions on reading some tales, the process has already begun!😊) We have been thrilled with the response from our readers and the connection it has made with mums, dads and grandparents alike.
We love our business ventures, www.littleowlsandpals.etsy.com ( which sells knitted and fabric animals) and www.kidsmysterygames.etsy.com (which offers kits for kids parties, much like the murder mystery games of the 90’s) and have thoroughly enjoyed the whole process of writing, publishing and marketing our book, but first and foremost we are mums, our kids being our proudest achievements of all!
Just as I have crossed seeing the Northern Lights off my bucket list (see previous post) I can now cross writing a book off the list!
We are both looking forward to undertaking our next challenge, whatever it may be!
